There have always been lots of action sports participants and fans in Japan as its culture allows suitable spaces for urban disciplines to flourish. As host of the 2020 Summer Olympics, Japan is keen to promote all forms of event and entertainment.
In 2018, Hiroshima, the world capital of peace, applied to host the FISE World Series. Why? To combine all urban sport disciplines – BMX, Skateboard, Bouldering, Parkour and Roller – in one unique festival.
Hurricane was on to a winner! The first edition in 2018, drew 85,000+ spectators and, attracted strong interest from the authorities who saw it as the springboard for a much larger project.
FISE is becoming a platform where each urban sport can find its place. Definitely one to watch !
